A pool deck has a hard job: it’s wet most of the time, it’s walked on barefoot, and it sits in full Jefferson Parish sun. Concrete around a pool gets slick when wet, cracks as Metairie’s fill settles, and turns scorching by midsummer. Pavers solve all three. The right paver gives grip when it’s wet, many options stay cooler underfoot than poured concrete, and because the deck is individual units on a flexible base, settling becomes a reset job instead of a crack you live with.

Drainage is everything by a pool

Between splash-out, rain, and our heavy summer storms, a pool deck is constantly shedding water, and the last thing you want is that water pooling at the coping or running back toward the house. Built to ride Metairie’s settling ground

A pool is a big rigid structure, and the ground around it on soft lakefront fill rarely settles evenly. A concrete deck cracks where that movement concentrates, often right at the coping where it shows most. A paver deck flexes. When a section near the pool settles, we lift those pavers, correct the base, and reset them flush, so the deck stays even and safe right up to the water’s edge. That repairability matters most exactly where a tripping lip is most dangerous.

Resurfacing a cracked concrete deck

Plenty of Metairie homes have an older concrete pool deck that’s cracked, faded, or slick. In many cases we can overlay pavers onto a sound existing slab or tear out and rebuild with a proper base, giving you a fresh, safe, good-looking deck without touching the pool shell itself. Pool decks and any related structures fall under Jefferson Parish, so when a permit applies we pull it through the Jefferson Parish Department of Inspection and Code Enforcement.
