Why sealing matters on our pavers
Sealing does two jobs at once. It puts a protective layer over the paver face that blocks UV fading and stops oil, grease, and tannin stains from soaking in. And it stabilizes the joints, so the sand stays put instead of washing out in the next downpour. Skip it, and you get faded color, loose joints, weeds and ants moving into the gaps, and a slick film of mildew every wet season. Sealed pavers stay truer to their original color and stay locked together far longer.
Our cleaning and sealing process
- Deep clean the whole surface to strip mildew, dirt, and old organic buildup from the paver face and joints
- Treat any moss, algae, or mildew at the root so it does not come straight back in our humidity
- Re-sand the joints with polymeric sand, which hardens to lock the pavers and block weeds and ants
- Let everything dry fully, because sealing over trapped moisture causes a cloudy, blotchy finish
- Apply a quality paver sealer, matte or wet-look to your preference, evenly across the field
What sealing protects you from
- Color fade: our intense UV bleaches unsealed pavers over a few seasons; sealer holds the color
- Stains: a sealed surface keeps oil, grill grease, and leaf tannins on top where they wipe away

How often should pavers be resealed?
In our climate, plan on every 2 to 3 years for most surfaces. Driveways and pool decks that take more sun, traffic, and water may want it a little sooner. We will tell you honestly where yours stand.
Will sealing make my pavers slippery?
Not if it is done right. We use sealers suited to walked-on surfaces and can add a grit additive for pool decks and steps, so you keep traction even when the surface is wet.
Can you fix mildew and weeds in the joints, or just seal over them?
We treat them first. Mildew gets cleaned and killed at the root, and we re-sand the joints with polymeric sand that hardens and blocks regrowth. Sealing over dirty, open joints just traps the problem, so we never do that.
Do I need new pavers or just a reseal?
Usually just a clean and reseal. If we spot units that have settled, sunk, or lifted, we re-level them first so the finished surface is even and the seal lasts. You only replace pavers if some are cracked or badly damaged.
